Day 9 not riding due to cold/rain-cooking demonstration in Jaen
The weather has it raining all day and temperatures in the low 50's. There are couple people that want to ride. If we had to, we would tough it out, but since we have the option we will stay off the bikes. I have a readiness score of 1 on my Fitbit app. Never seen it that low.
Our hotel is way up high on a hill with a very steep and narrow winding road to get to it. Would not be fun to ride down and certainly not fun to ride up. But it is too wet and unsafe to ride up this monster hill.
Saw some Iberian Ibex!!
And the cathedral in the distance.
Then we took a taxi down to the city to see the basilica and the city. Julie came with us as her husband is still sick with a bad cold.
Lunch paella, Cesar salad, beer and tea, and FREE tapas. And even some to take home to Jerome.
Our guides Jose and Nico
It's been threatening rain all day but hasn't let loose. Was wondering if we made the wrong choice not to ride, but it's still pretty cold outside, like 52°. I would not have enjoyed myself in that kind of cold.
We borrowed a corkscrew from the desk of the hotel so we could enjoy the wine we bought yesterday. Paul took a nap and I organized pictures and downloaded them in the computer. We can't turn on the heater in the room because it has been shut off for the summer season, so they gave extra blankets. I took a hot bath before dinner. Then down to the cooking class.
