Day 16 Gibraltar

This morning, I went to the international Cafe' while Paul was getting ready. I found blueberry chocolate chia pudding and ordered a mocha. Our tour today, called 'The Top of the Rock', offers the top sights of Gibraltar, when you embark on a three-hour walking tour with a knowledgeable guide.

Gibraltar is 14 1/2 mi from Africa, 36 miles from Morocco, and has 35 miles of tunnels. We took a motorcoach ride that took us around the Rock to view the huge catchment area and Catalan Bay. Then head up to the Upper Rock for your first stop of the day, a visit to St Michael's Cave. The bus congestion was gridlock. We walked through a network of limestone caves located deep within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve and saw a light show.

Legend tells that the first monkeys found their way to Gibraltar through a tunnel that linked these caves to Africa. You'll learn more about the famed Barbary apes on your next stop at the Apes' Den.

Finally, visit the Great Siege Tunnels, where you can walk in the footsteps of the leaders and soldiers who fought bravely for their country.

You'll pass the Moorish castle and enter the heart of the city. The Moorish castle was just a ruin.
They dropped us off downtown and we walked back to the ship.

Had lunch in the buffet. I got a wonderful salad with no dressing. Three people got taken off the boat by ambulance. I tried to find out if there is an infectious illness aboard. I was told no. But who knows. We tried a couple drinks tonight. A Hurricane, a Aperol Spritz, Choco Banana, Strawberries on Fire, Key West Cooler. Our package gives us 15 drinks ($15 or under) a day per person. No way we can drink that much.
