Day 11 the Alhambra Palace in Granada
Today is our last day with the VBT tour. We are going to have a tour of the Alhambra Palace, which was started in the 12th century and in the 15th century. Charles V added a palace next to it. There's really no way that we can describe it. We stopped at a couple plazas and then we continued on to the Alhambra .
At another plaza we saw a statue of Queen Isabella and Christopher Columbus.
We walked to get to the Alhambra Palace from the hotel and it's a very steep walk up a narrow street with shops on either side. Once you pass a gate, there's a forest and you keep climbing up.
There is no way to adequately describe the Alhambra. There are mosaics and cast sculptures on the walls and wood engraved panels on the ceilings and gardens that just to die for.
There were military planes overhead practicing for a show next weekend. We were really overwhelmed with the Alhambra. Then we walked back down the hill. [Much easier] and wandered our way back to the hotel.
We have a private balcony with poster mural things and Paul took a nap in the forest .We're going to set off to find a bike store to see if we can find a jersey we like.
Paul has meat and potatoes. We wandered back and bought a pastry on the way. We are back at the hotel by 4 to start the packing process and rest, go to bed early, and not eat so late at night. We snagged a roll with ham and cheese and plan to eat it for breakfast on the train tomorrow.
